BOOK SYNOPSIS

In June 2017, Matt Walker said farewell to his job surrendered his Fulham FC Season ticket and set off for Georgia, the first stop on his mission. He would end his adventure 11 months later in Montenegro, having Conquered the continent and captured the imagination of its sporting media.

This is the story of one fan on a once in a lifetime experience travelling to Europe's unseen corners, talking with its unsung supporters and tracing the beautiful game across the breath of our brilliant, bizarre continent.

OUR REVIEW

Is this not the ideal life for any football fan, travelling watching the great game from all corners? I know its something I have always thought about doing but Matt Walker was able to do so and has written about his experiences on the road that saw him reach every inch of Europe.

The book is a timeline of his trips which allows the book to flow pretty well throughout and be able to track the route that he took. As ever, the temptation to visit some of the best known clubs around Europe must have been highly tempting but Walker didn't do this, he chose to mix up his experiences, visitig many well known clubs but also clubs that many of us are still unaware off today.

At times the book can g through stages where it is difficult to follow but equally there are times when you just can't put it down. Being able to get the book to flow and engage is always a challenge for any author and this is where it sometimes fell down.

That being said, there were plenty of great passages and the ability to develop and inform on the clubs on hand, the culture of the country and the history that often lends itself to so much, are all great levellers and its well worth a read, if only for the amazing journey that comes out, something we all would love to do.

Grab a cuppa, settle down and learn about all the great football available all on our European doorstep!
