OUR REVIEW
Ah FIFA..... the gift that keeps on giving! Foul! is the first of a series of expose's on Football's governing body and a journalistic masterpiece from Andrew Jennings who seemingly took on the role of bringing the house of FIFA down and highlighting the multitude scandals inside the highly secretive world, led by then President Sepp Blatter. This book is the process that has clearly took many years to build the dossier that should have seen change at the top and a thorough clean up of the system, yet it took many more years for the house to fall despite the overwhelming evidence that was stacked up and bursting from the seams.
Jennings has done his homework and looked at the history of FIFA, how it has been run since its inception and how the changing world of football came with the backhanders, the vote rigging and the bribes you would expect to see in a movie. In fact, this is a prime candidate to hit the screens in years to come. At times the book is hard to follow with the names of people involved coming thick and fast and if you were to rush through this book, it would be a whirlwind that would have you scratching your head trying to pin the little pieces together, but the information is both important and highly interesting.
Taking this book at a slower pace and reminding yourself of how things have ticked over is vital and the best way to keep your wits to fully understand how everything is interlinked and if you can do that, this book will remain in your mind and keep you wanting more and more scandal. This book has the ability to hook you in but also the ability if you don't have patience, to make you want to put the book down and not want to pick it up again. Patience is the word and if you can keep your wits, you'll not be disappointed and will come out wanting more and looking for Jennings' next offering as he takes it one step further.
