OUR REVIEW
Wow! If ever there was a way to start a book, THE DEAL brings it to the full and the Prologue will have you hooked from the start as they recount a story that will leave you genuinely shocked and yearning to read more! The book starts on a high and whilst it is clearly the high point of the book, their is plenty to keep you reading and wanting more and gets you that little insight into how the murky world of business in football can still shock. There is plenty of examples of how deals work and that alone gives you information on some of the most legendary managers and how they conduct their business and how it has changed over a relatively short period of time.
Capturing the readers interest is key and this book does that, not only with its insight into football and transfers but also it's impact on a person's personal and professional life and their are tinges of sadness felt on a number of occasions as you empathise with the author and balance that against the benefits the role of an Agent in football receives. The book not only talks about the highs of a Football Agents but charts the lows and how going from being playing a part in the commercialisation and marketing of the England team, to helping to change the face of the game with his involvement in the formation of the Premier League before his devastating fall from grace and the loss of a business he had built from the ground.
Whilst at times, particularly towards the end of the book, there is less information about transfers and the agent world, the book remains a fascinating read throughout and makes you want to keep reading and not want to put the book down.
My advice, get yourself a cuppa and settle in for a great read! Why not order your own copy of the book and let me know your thoughts and add to our review!
